There are four local banks, Belize Bank Ltd., Barclays Bank PLC, Bank of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Bank Ltd.

Minimum balance to open account at Belize Bank Ltd is $1000(US). Belize Bank offers VISA company credit card on condition that a deposit of not less than 150% of the credit limit is placed with the bank (minimum credit limit US$2500 - therefore minimum deposit US$3750.
